![]() Bengal rulers translated the Ramayan and Mahabharat in to Bengali. Akbar traslated many books from Sanskrit to Persian. Urdu also flourished in medieval India during the Mughal period. Namdev and Eknath wrote Marathi and Meera used words of Rajastani and Maithili to enrich her compositions. Scholars like Ramanand, Amir Khusro, Gurunanak and Kabir composed their poetry in Hindi. Hindu rulers of that time patronaged Sanskrit.Turkish sultans of that period encouraged Persian literature. During Mughals both the religious and secular literature flourished. Literature and Paintings in Medieval India were developed during Mughal and Sultanate rule. It was the story of Akbar and pictures dipict the incidents of Akbar's life. Some of the manuscripts of the Mughal period were with miniature paintings one such manuscript was Akbarnama. Manuscripts were decorated with silver and gold in the medieval period. The teachings of the Bhakti and the Sufi saints brought about a closer understanding between the Hindus and Muslims. The poor had enough to meet their simple requirementsĪkbar started a new liberal religious policy of toleration towards the Hindus. The nobles enjoyed a high standard of living. The aristocrats lived a life of luxury while the lot of the lower classes was poor. The Mughal society consisted of three main groups, namely the aristocrats, the middle class and the lower class.
